Colourful Edinburgh Engagement Photography Session – Gayle and Mark
Autumn is one of my favourite times of year. I love autumn for all the richness of colour, and the snugness of wrapping up warm and cosy. So it made the perfect backdrop for this adorable Edinburgh engagement couple session with Mark and Gayle.
We met up in Edinburgh, and walked around the Royal Mile, crossing over between where the Old Town meets New. Gayle and Mark were wrapped up snuggly, in warm autumnal clothes, and the rich jewel tones of the leaves around us in Princes Street Gardens added to the mood of our shoot.
I adore photo sessions in Edinburgh. Exploring the lanes, the mix of architecture of old, new, Georgian and contemporary buildings making up the city skyline. All the mixture that makes the city unique… I suppose it reminds me of how our own relationships are built, with different experiences and memories built upon each other to create the rich tapestry of a shared personal history.
What I love especially about this shoot I suppose is the way Mark and Gayle look at one another. I didn’t have to ask them to smile, because they do that naturally with one another anyway. They have that beautiful appreciation of one another. You know when you see those motivation memes on Pinterest, where someone says they want a partner to look at them like one fictional character looks at another? That’s what Mark and Gayle have, only, it’s real.
It’s how they are together, how they embrace one another, how they connect with one another. They just click together, perfectly. To me, that’s what love is. You don’t know it really, until you see it and it just makes perfect sense. When I photographed Gayle and Mark, that was how it felt to me to watch them through my viewfinder – they just made perfect sense together.
